Janet Young Trumpet
Janet is from Seaford, Sussex in the UK, but has lived in Seattle since 1998. Her musical life began on a violin at age 5 but she later joined the local brass band playing cornet. She soon also acquired a trumpet, studying with David Batstone and Malcolm Warnes. Janet graduated from the University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences, but also enjoyed the rich musical opportunities available there. She has a doctorate in Genetics from University College, London and is now a research scientist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Janet is a member of Orchestra Seattle and the Lake Union Civic Orchestra and a frequent guest with other ensembles. Recently, Janet very much enjoyed her first trumpet lessons in many years from David Gordon (Seattle Symphony).
